Revamp Your Old Curly Wig : My Detailed Wig Refresh Routine

Wendy Ama Wig

Hey lovelies! Welcome back to my blog. Today, I’m thrilled to share with you all my in-depth process for reviving old curly wigs. We’ve all been there – that moment when your once bouncy and vibrant wig starts to lose its mojo. But fear not! I’ve got just the solution to bring those curls back to life. And guess what? I’ve also created a YouTube video showcasing every step of this routine, so be sure to check it out below !

Step 1: Pre-Shampoo Deep Conditioning

First things first, let’s show our wig some love with a pre-shampoo deep conditioning treatment using Aunt Jackie’s Intensive Repair Conditioning Masque. This potent masque penetrates deep into the hair shaft, nourishing and strengthening the curls from within. In the video, I demonstrate how I generously apply the masque, ensuring to focus on the ends where the hair tends to be driest. After letting it work its magic for about a few hours in a bag, the wig is ready for the next step.

Step 2: Washing the Wig

Next up, it’s time for a good wash. Using the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore shampoo, I gently cleanse the wig, ensuring to massage the scalp to remove any buildup or residue. After a thorough rinse, I finish off with a cold water rinse to seal the cuticles and add extra shine.

Step 3: Conditioning

Now that the wig is squeaky clean, it’s time to condition! I reach for the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore conditioner for this step. This rich conditioner adds moisture back into the hair, leaving it soft, shiny, and manageable. In the video, I demonstrate how I apply the conditioner, making sure to focus on the lengths and ends of the hair. After letting it sit for a few minutes, I rinse it out thoroughly with lukewarm water.

Step 4: Reviving the Wig Curls

Last but not least, it’s time to revive those curls! After gently squeezing out excess water, I apply a small amount of leave-in conditioner to lock in moisture and define the curls. Then, I scrunch the hair upwards to encourage the curls to bounce back to life. For a speedy drying process, I sometimes use a diffuser attachment on low heat. I typically airdry.

And there you have it – our wig is transformed, looking fresh and fabulous once again. Be sure to watch the YouTube video to see this detailed routine in action.
